OCTOBER 28 PARIS – MEXICO CITY
We will welcome you upon arrival at Mexico City's Benito Juárez International Airport. Your guide will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel and help you settle in. Remainder of the day at leisure. Accommodation.
OCTOBER 29, MEXICO CITY
Breakfast at the hotel . Departure from the hotel for a guided tour of the historic center, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site: you will see the National Palace, the Zócalo, the Aztec Great Temple, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Palace of Fine Arts, and the Postal Palace. Free time for lunch (not included). We recommend the Azul Histórico restaurant (Mexican cuisine) or the terrace of the Gran Hotel de México (Mexican cuisine) overlooking the Zócalo; this hotel is in the Art Nouveau style. You will take a short bus tour along Paseo de la Reforma (the city's most important avenue). During the tour, you will see the Angel of Independence, the most famous monument on this avenue, and pass by Chapultepec Forest, home to the city's only castle, Chapultepec Castle. It was the residence of Maximilian of Habsburg after the liberation of Mexico from Spanish rule.
You'll continue exploring the National Museum of Anthropology (closed Mondays), one of the most important museums in Mexico and Latin America. It consists of 11 rooms representing historical, anthropological, and archaeological heritage. Continue to Plaza Garibaldi, the most representative place of Mexican popular music, mariachi. This musical genre has been declared an Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Mariachis, traditional musicians, gather here every evening to chat. Dinner is not included.
OCTOBER 30 TEOTIHUACÁN
Breakfast at the hotel. You will head to the Plaza of the Three Cultures, where the pre-Columbian, Spanish, and Mexican present merge. Afterward, you will visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the most sacred place for Mexican Catholics. This site is dedicated to the patron saint of Mexico, the object of a true cult that translates into endless pilgrimages and unparalleled fervor. Next, explore the marvelous archaeological site of Teotihuacán, which in Nahuatl means "City of the Gods" or "the place where the gods are created." It is one of the most impressive sites in Mexico, if not the entire world. Buffet lunch of typical Mexican dishes (included). During your visit, you will see the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon. The former reaches 65 meters in height, making it one of the largest pyramids on the continent. The Pyramid of Quetzalcoatl, the Serpent God, is the only pyramid in Teotihuacan that features serpent-head sculptures representing the god Quetzalcoatl, known as the god of war.
After the tour, you'll visit an artisan center where you'll discover an obsidian carving workshop, a craft that remains a local specialty. You'll have the opportunity to taste a typical agave drink: pulque. Return to your hotel. Remainder of the afternoon at leisure .
OCTOBER 31 MEXICO CITY – PÁTZCUARO – MORELIA (367 KM - 6 HRS)
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for Pátzcuaro. Arrival and free time for lunch in Pátzcuaro (not included). In downtown Pátzcuaro, you can enjoy a variety of cafes and restaurants serving traditional and international dishes. Don't forget to try the typical ice creams sold downtown; the pasta flavor is the most typical. You will take a guided tour of the city center and the Day of the Dead sweets market. The name Pátzcuaro means "gateway to heaven" in Purépecha. It is a city famous for its colonial beauty, as well as for the authenticity of its customs and local people. It is located on the shores of Lake Pátzcuaro. Among its cultural treasures you will visit are the Basilica of Our Lady of Health, the House of the Eleven Patios, the library, the Temple of San Francisco and the Temple of the Sacred Heart, the Convent of San Agustín, the Sanctuary of Guadalupe, and the Plaza Don Vasco de Quiroga with its handicraft market. Today you will experience preparations for the Day of the Dead: this celebration is of utmost importance to the Mexican people. It is celebrated over two days, November 1st and 2nd. It is an opportunity to gather with family. This celebration is characterized by the offering of sweets, usually small sugar or chocolate skulls. The Mexican population visits the cemeteries where their loved ones are buried, awaiting their arrival; there is a firm belief that the dead come to visit them. Therefore, they decorate their homes and graves with candles and flowers. In the city center, you will have the opportunity to have Day of the Dead-themed makeup done. Free time to visit the artisan market and enjoy local Day of the Dead activities, such as local dances and parades. Departure for Morelia. Dinner at leisure.
NOVEMBER 1 MORELIA – SANTA FÉ DE LA LAGUNA – JANITZIO – TZINTZUNTZÁN (98 KM 2H)

Morelia has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is known for its
Architectural beauty of its magnificent colonial buildings made of pink stone. You will visit the Cathedral, the Government Palace, the Clavijero Palace, the Convent of the Roses with its church, and the Plaza Mayor. You will discover the typical candy market, the aqueduct, the Fountain of the Tarascas, the Callejón del Romance, and the Calzada: a charming pedestrian street that leads to the Sanctuary of Guadalupe, a church with a stunning interior. Depart for Santa Fe de la Laguna, where you will meet the Purépecha community, who pay homage to the Day of the Dead. If opportunity permits, you can visit the homes of Mexican families awaiting the arrival of their deceased and discover everything they have prepared for them. You will also make a brief visit to the cemetery. Continue to Janitzio Island in Lake Pátzcuaro. You will board a small boat that will take you to the island. You will visit the cemetery and marvel at the altars that families have prepared for their deceased. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon, you will depart for Tzintzuntzán . You will witness the lighting of candles for the Day of the Dead. You will visit the town cemetery to see the altars of the dead. Sometimes, a contest is held to see the most beautiful altars on graves. You will be able to witness the installation of altars for the recently deceased (people who passed away this year). These arrangements have the particularity of being accompanied by cheerful music for the recently deceased.
If time permits, you'll continue to the Tzintzuntzán archaeological site to attend the Day of the Dead festivities. You'll have the opportunity to see a performance of the famous ball game. Overnight stay.
NOVEMBER 2 MORELIA – TLAQUEPAQUE – GUADALAJARA (289 KM 4H)
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for Tlaquepaque. This colorful town is known for its Mexican-style decor. You'll have free time to explore and visit the craft shops. You'll take a panoramic tour of the residential areas, the Minerva Fountain, the university, and the illuminated arches, ending in Guadalajara's historic center where you'll have free time for lunch. Afterward, you'll take a guided walking tour of the historic center. You'll marvel at the architecture of buildings such as the Hospicio Cabañas (closed on Mondays), the Government Palace, and the Degollado Theater, among others. These are located in the four plazas surrounding the Metropolitan Cathedral. Overnight stay .
NOVEMBER 3 GUADALAJARA – TEQUILA – GUANAJUATO (70 KM 1H30 / 355 KM 5H)
Breakfast at the hotel (included). Departure for the land of tequila. Arrival in Tequila, a town that bears the same name as the drink. The town is surrounded by fields of agave, the plant from which tequila is made. You will discover a tequila distillery and learn about the production process. A tasting is also offered. Free time for lunch (not included) in downtown Tequila. Departure for Guanajuato.
NOVEMBER 4 GUANAJUATO
Breakfast at the hotel . You'll begin the day with a short cable car ride that will take you to Mirador del Pípila, a viewing point overlooking the city. Continue with a guided tour of the city. Guanajuato hosts the International Cervantino Festival. This beautiful city, full of charming alleys and squares, offers interesting sites, such as the Alhóndiga de Granaditas (closed on Mondays), the Juárez Theater (closed on Mondays), the Valencian Mine, the Alley of the Kiss, and the University (all included). Its underground streets and avenues are unique in the country. Free time for lunch (not included).
Visit the Mummy Museum: This iconic site has attracted visitors from around the world for over 150 years. In 1865, the first mummy was discovered in the Santa Paula cemetery. Currently, there are more than 100 on display. This extraordinary phenomenon was achieved thanks to the characteristics of the climate and the subsoil.
Return to the hotel, free afternoon. We suggest participating in a nighttime callejoneada accompanied by a short musical concert featuring troubadours. This activity is a must-do in Guanajuato. Overnight stay .
NOVEMBER 5, Guanajuato – Dolores – Atotonilco – San Miguel Allende (96 km 2 hours)
Breakfast at the hotel (included). Begin with a visit to Dolores Hidalgo, a town that pays tribute to Don Miguel Hidalgo, who led the Mexican Independence movement.
You'll visit his house, where you'll learn more about Mexico's Independence, and the city center with its main square and church. Continue to Atotonilco. You'll visit the Sanctuary of Jesus of Nazareth, also known as the "Sistine Chapel of the Americas." Arrive in San Miguel de Allende, birthplace of the great comedian "Cantinflas" and home to artists and intellectuals. Free time for lunch. You'll visit points of interest such as the Parish of San Miguel Arcángel, the Chapel of the Holy House, the Church of San Francisco, and the Allende House (exterior only). After this visit, you'll have free time to stroll through this charming town, where a wide variety of cafes, restaurants, and craft shops await. Overnight stay.
